Olens says the settlement, which was reached earlier this week is part of a total $2.55 million the company has agreed to repay the government over allegations that pharmacy centers submitted false claims and statements for prescription drug reimbursements.
Olens says Kmart billed the government for full prescriptions when it distributed only a portion of the prescriptions they billed for and returned remaining drugs back to stock.
Olens says Kmart will pay the states to reimburse Medicaid, Medicare and other federal health care programs.
Olens' spokeswoman Lauren Kane says the settlement was based on a whistleblower case that was filed in Michigan.
