Three area volleyball teams were left alive in the state playoffs -- and all three marched through to their respective championship tournaments on Tuesday.

Buford, Chestatee and Jefferson all claimed victory, dropping just one set between them, as they earned the right to continue their journey toward the ultimate prize.

In Class AAAA, Chestatee continued a memorable season by knocking off South Effingham 3-1 on the road. The second-seeded Lady War Eagles advanced to the AAAA "Elite Eight" tournament, which will take begin on Saturday.

Meanwhile, in Class AAA, Buford marauded its way back into the championship tournament with a 3-0 sweep of Southeast Bulloch at home. The Lady Wolves have dominated for much of the campaign and will look to knock off tournament favorites St. Pius and Blessed Trinity when they begin the quarterfinal round on Saturday (unlike in Class AAAA, Class AAA's championship tournament feature's six teams).

Jefferson will also move on to the Class AA championships thanks to a 3-0 sweep of Calhoun on Tuesday. The Lady Dragons (33-11) dominated the match, winning 25-8, 25-17, 25-21 at Calhoun.

Grace Williamson helped lead Jefferson's charge with 15 kills and seven digs, while Madison Corbett provided one ace, four digs and 14 assists. Lindsey Nilsen also had two aces, three kills and two digs, while Paige Watson served up two aces to go along with 14 assists. Abby Wood also managed two aces, five kills and six digs.

Jefferson will join in with Class AA's six remaining teams (like in Class AAA) beginning Saturday.
