LAWRENCEVILLE - A woman whose husband was shot and killed by Lawrenceville police has filed suit against the officers involved.

Tenisha Felio said that she filed suit because her husband didn't deserve to die when she made a 911 call to police to report that her husband had been abusing her.

The officers responding to the call in December 2010, Christopher Hyatt and Karl Hydrick, said 27-year-old James Felio was shot after trying to get one officer's gun. Tenisha Felio says her husband was not a threat and there was no need to shoot.

An attorney representing the officers and the Lawrenceville Police Department, Brian Dempsey, says a thorough investigation determined the shooting was justified.

Felio's attorney, James Dearing, says the officers could have used their batons or pepper spray.
