Glasbrenner recognized as Rape Response celebrates 25 years

GAINESVILLE - Rape Response celebrated its 25th anniversary Monday night at First Baptist Church on Green Street - and singled out its founder, Wendy Glasbrenner, for special recognition.<br /> <br /> Also on hand for the celebration were two past executive directors of Rape Response - Elaine Gerke and Terri Strayhorn, who are still supportive of and involved in the program. Gerke served for three years and Strayhorn, 19.<br /> <br /> "Wendy and those two executive directors built quite a legacy and I am privileged to be here today and have their continued support and involvement," current Executive Director Jeanne Buffington said. "We currently have 36 volunteers and two full-time and two part-time staff. All, great women, too."<br /> <br /> Buffington added that the volunteers "are critical to our work. We could not provide 24/7 services with them. They are lifeline to survivors as well as Rape Response staff."<br /> <br /> Rape Response is a nonprofit agency with 24/7 services for rape survivors ages 13 and older.
