Volleyball playoffs: GHS, Lakeview knocked from postseason

The Lakeview Academy and Gainesville High volleyball teams saw their seasons come to an end on Thursday in the first round of the state playoffs.

The Lady Lions suffered a 3-0 sweep at the hands of Calvary Baptist in Class A.

The Lady Red Elephants, meanwhile, fell 3-0 at Starr's Mill 3-0.

The second round of the state playoffs will get underway next week, with Chestatee, Buford and Jefferson each advancing.

The second-seeded Lady War Eagles will travel to take on top-seeded South Effingham in Class AAAA.

In Class AAA, No. 3 seed Buford will play host to No. 4 seed Southeast Bulloch.

And in Class AA, third-seeded Jefferson will travel to face No. 1 seed Calhoun.
