AUGUSTA - A Gainesville man died Monday morning in a one-vehicle traffic accident in McDuffie County.

35 year old Jesus Garcia Gonzalez was a front seat passenger in a pickup when the wreck happened on Washington Street in Thomson, according to the Augusta Chronicle.

Gonzalez and four others were in the pickup. According to the paper, the passengers were not wearing seatbelts. They were ejected from the truck.

The chronicle reports that the group were employees of McNutt Service Group, a concrete finishing company in North Carolina.

State troopers said the pickup driver, Christopher B. Williams, of Pendleton, S.C., would likely face charges in the case. Williams was allegedly driving on a suspended license, according to the paper.

Authorities said the driver swerved to miss another truck. The vehicle went airborne and rolled. Williams and three passengers suffered injuries, while Gonzalez lost his life.

Funeral services for Gonzalez are scheduled for Friday October 18, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at St Michael Catholic Church in Gainesville.
