GAINESVILLE - Three bears paid a lengthy visit to a northwest Hall County neighborhood Monday, but as of Tuesday morning, they had moved somewhere else, according to residents along Leach Circle.

The bears - a female and her two cubs - showed up in the neighborhood Monday morning. Residents called Fox 5 News in Atlanta and a TV crew showed up, finding all three animals in the trees about 60-feet from the ground.

Gary Fortune told reporters that the bears stayed all day.

"That one up there [the female]she's probably about 400 pounds," said Fortune. "Cubs are probably about...150 or better."

Other residents, such as Ricky Humphries, were worried that the bears might be dangerous.

"We got kids and dogs and stuff out here and just don't want anything to happen to them," he said.

Residents said they called the Department of Natural Resources and Hall County Animal Control and were told to leave the bears alone and the animals would likely move on. Turns out, that's just what happened.

Fortune told AccessNorthGA.com that the bears were nowhere to be seen Tuesday morning.
