ATLANTA (AP) -- Republican Rep. Phil Gingrey will report $2.5 million in cash on hand as he campaigns for Georgia's open U.S. Senate seat.

Campaign spokesman John Porter said Friday that Gingrey raised just over $287,000 in the last three months. That is below the more than $800,000 in contributions being reported by Rep. Jack Kingston for the same period. Kingston has about $2.9 million in cash on hand.

The Republican primary for the seat held by retiring Sen. Saxby Chambliss is crowded with a group of well-known or well-financed candidates.

Earlier this week, Republican businessman David Perdue reported he has invested $1 million of his money into the campaign, with $1.3 million in cash.

Rep. Paul Broun and former Secretary of State Karen Handel have yet to report their quarterly fundraising totals.
