GAINESVILLE - A Hall County jury convicted a man in an attempted sexual assault case last year on Atlanta Highway.

Devin Segura, 21, was convicted Wednesday afternoon on all counts, including attempted aggravated sodomy, attempted rape, aggravated assault with intent to rape, battery and simple battery, according to Hall County District Attorney Lee Darragh.

Judge John E. Girardeau sentenced Segura to a 20 year term with 18 years to serve in prison and two on probation.

The trial began Monday.

According to Darragh, Segura assaulted a woman working at a small business, beginning with a lewd sexual proposition. Darragh said Segura struggled with the victim, hitting her in the face, throwing hot tea on her, grabbing her hair and trying to remove her pants.

Darragh said evidence also included another similar incident on Industrial Boulevard that involved harassing a woman Segura had exposed himself to months earlier.
