FLOWERY BRANCH -- Chris Griffin says his team is far from perfect -- but he also says Flowery Branch football is getting nearer with each step.

The Falcons won their fourth straight contest with ease on Friday, sprinting to a 42-0 lead before cruising to a 42-20 victory over Apalachee in Flowery Branch.

"We've gotten better each week, and our No. 1 units on offense and defense are playing about as well as you could expect right now," Griffin said. "We still have a few things to iron out, but I feel good about where we're at right now."

Certainly the Falcons (4-2, 4-0 Region 8-AAAAA) starting offense and defense had plenty to enjoy on Friday, dominating the Wildcats (0-5, 0-3) en route to putting the contest well out of reach in the first half.

Quarterback Jackson McDonald put up multiple scores, hitting A'lencio Graham for one touchdown, while Cameron Davis also scored.

Flowery Branch's special teams also got in on the scoring, blocking a punt that Cole Ford scooped up and returned for a touchdown.

"We were able to get our back-ups in there early, and any time you can do that, you feel pretty good," Griffin said. "We're trying to stay healthy because we've got nine straight games without a break."

Griffin also singled out his offensive line for praise.

"They're playing as well as any line we've ever had," Griffin said. "They're the lifeblood of the team, just real blue-collar, workhorses."

Flowery Branch will hit the road to face Winder-Barrow next week.
