"Simulations are still a new concept in health care training, but it offers invaluable experiences for students," Taylor noted. "It allows students to apply their knowledge base and uses critical thinking techniques in a simulated environment. There are several studies that indicate that test scores improve with the use of these new techniques."
Taylor has held positions at Egleston Children's Hospital in Atlanta, Oconee Memorial Emergency Room in South Carolina, and Fulton County's District 2 Public Health Office.
"I developed a love for teaching when I held classes for new nurses," she said. Her specialty was HIV and testing for epidemiology. Sarah holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Emory University.
"I absolutely love working with the students here at North Georgia Tech. It is exciting to see them interact with the simulators for the first time conducting patient interviews. Even though the 'patients' are not real, the students immediately begin connecting with them on a personal level."
Taylor and her husband, Landis, are long-time residents of Rabun County where they live with their daughter, Lauren. Landis owns and operates Complete Concrete Pumping, Inc.
