Brett Chosewood told his story to Channel 2 Action News. The 31-year-old teacher walks with a limp and has limited use of one hand caused by a stroke at birth. He said once the school administrators in Abu Dubai in the United Arab Emirates saw him at a teacher orientation, they pulled him out of the meeting.
Chosewood told the TV station the administrators left him sitting alone in a room for hours before they came to him and told him he was fired. He said they told him to leave the country.
The reason for his abrubt dismissal, said Chosewood, was his disability.
"They said that the students aren't used to people with disabilities and that they would be distracted and confused, said Chosewood. "They told me I had 30 days [to leave the country]but then two days later, they called and kicked me out of my apartment."
Chosewood, who has a masters degree, told the TV station he did not intentionally mislead the school about his disability, but said he did not mention it because it never hampered his work in the classroom in Georgia.
