GAINESVILLE - Gainesville Police released details Tuesday into the arrest of a Mississippi fugitive, wanted for the robbery of a credit union in his home state.

Gainesville Police Lt. Kevin Holbrook said Kenyatta A. McGee, 29, allegedly robbed the Members Exchange Credit Union in Ridgeland, Mississippi, last Tuesday. Ridgeland is just north of Jackson.

Authorities with several agencies worked the case. They included U.S. Marshals, the Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force, Ridgeland Police, Gainesville Police and the Hall County Sheriff's Office.

Investigators developed information McGee had fled to the Gainesville area.

Holbrook said Gainesville Police began working with other authorities and ran a search warrant at Harrison Square Apartments on Friday. They found McGee in an apartment.

"A search of the apartment did locate and seize a large amount of U.S. currency from the robbery that did occur in Mississippi," Holbrook said.

While police said McGee was arrested without incident, Holbrook declined to provide details on why McGee would have fled to Gainesville.

"At this time we are not at liberty to divulge that information."

McGee is currently the only suspect charged in connection with the Gainesville arrest, according to Holbrook. Authorities in Mississippi were expected to extradite McGee to Ridgeland to face charges.

Holbrook said during the robbery, McGee allegedly restrained two women inside the credit union. Another woman, Olivia Walker, 31, of Pearl, Mississippi, also faces charges in the robbery.

"It appears that she is possibly an employee of the Members Exchange Credit Union," Holbrook said.
