GAINESVILLE - Another shopping center is in the works on Dawsonville Highway west of Gainesville. The site is across from three restaurants that have opened within the last two years or so - Olive Garden, Cheddars and Buffalo Wild Wings.

The Gainesville Planning and Appeals Board later this month will be asked to approve a rezoning for 25.11 acres bordering Ahaluna Drive and Lakeshore Circle, and backing up to Lakeshore Heights subdivision. The tract is part of a 33.79-acre parcel which America's Home Place plans to develop.

The rezoning application for the 25.11 acres says America's Home Place plans to develop it for "retail and restaurant establishments." The rezoning site plan submitted with the application shows ten units on the backside of the property, including two anchor stores. They face a parking lot, which backs up to buildings on four out parcels fronting Dawsonville Highway.

The planning and appeals board meets at 5:30 Feb. 12 at the Gainesville Justice Center on Queen City Parkway.
