The National Weather Service has now issued a tornado watch for 67 counties in central and north Georgia, including all the counties in the Gainesville area and the rest of northeast Georgia. (See separate posting and link below.)
Forecasters say a squall line capable of the damaging weather is expected to move through Georgia Wednesday. The line of storms is expected to push into northwest Georgia Wednesday morning and track through the Atlanta metro area and into northeast Georgia by mid-afternoon Wednesday.
A high wind warning was issued for nine counties in the northeast Georgia mountains and included the cities of Blairsville, Dahlonega and Cleveland. A wind advisory covered several more counties in north and central Georgia.
