Parade, reception to honor GHS football champs Wed.

GAINESVILLE - A parade and reception are planned this week for the state champion Gainesville High School football team.

Both events for the State 5-A champions - players and coaches - are set for Wednesday. In addition, all Gainesville City Schools will dismiss one hour early on Wednesday to enable faculty and students to participate in the festivities if they wish.

Details are as follows:

3:55 p.m. Parade leaves GHS to travel to Bobby Gruhn Field

Spectator locations: Oak Street, Academy Street from intersection of Oak Street and Green Street, and Green Street from intersection of Jesse Jewell to City Park Stadium

4:00- 4:20 p.m. Parade travels to Bobby Gruhn Field

4:20- 6:00 p.m. The public is invited to meet the players and coaches on Bobby Gruhn Field.

Recognition Remarks will be at 5:00 p.m.

Entrance to the reception at Bobby Gruhn Field will be through the  home side gates on the north side of the stadium.

The lower parking lot will be reserved for parade vehicles and handicapped parking.

In case of inclement weather, the reception will be held on the first floor of the Gainesville Civic Center.
