GAINESVILLE - Two students from Riverside Military Academy (RMA) - one of them from Gainesville - were recently selected to participate in the Georgia Music Educators Association (GMEA) All State Orchestra to be held February 28-March 2 in Savannah.

The GMEA All-State bands and orchestras consist of high school and middle school musicians from around the state. Auditions include two contrasting musical études and two sight-reading exercises. Most students practice over a period of months in preparation for these auditions.

Cadet Staff Sergeant (C/SSG) Benjamin Jobson, a junior at Riverside, was placed as the principal second or first chair of the second violins in the 11th-12th grade orchestra. Principal second is awarded to the 5th highest score overall for all juniors and seniors statewide. Jobson is a member of the RMA Honor Council and the National Honor Society. He also serves as vice president for the RMA Horton Society. He was a nominee for the 2012 Georgia Governor's Honors Program in Music (Violin). He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Jobson of Gainesville.

Cadet Sergeant First Class (C/SFC) DoYeun Kim, also a Riverside junior, was placed as third chair oboe in the 11th-12th grade orchestra. Last year, Kim became the first Riverside band member to qualify for the All State Orchestra. He is a member of the National Honor Society, the RMA Horton Society, the Junior Engineering Technical Society-Technology Student Association (JETS-TSA), and the Science National Honor Society. C/SFC Kim was also a nominee for the Georgia Governor's Honors Program in Music (Oboe). He is the son of Choong Hyun Kim and Min Joung Kim of Seoul, South Korea.
