COAL MOUNTAIN -- North Forsyth football coach Blair Armstrong submitted his resignation on Friday, according to a press release from the school.

Coach Armstrong, who spent two seasons leading the Raiders, met with his coaching staff and players Friday morning to inform them of this decision.

He will continue to be a professional staff member at North Forsyth High School.

The Raiders were 4-16 under Armstrong, who took over North Forsyth after coaching at Banks County 2007-10. The Raiders were 3-7 in 2012. Armstrong also coached at Johnson High and Peachtree Ridge, leading the Lions to a share of the 2006 Class AAAAA title.

Armstrong's is the second football resignation this week for area schools after Habersham Central's Stuart Cunningham also stepped down on Wednesday.
