Tremaine Lebis had a 20-year history of trouble. Clayton County officer Sean Callahan was fatally shot Dec. 17 when he answered a domestic disturbance call involving Lebis. Lebis died in a shootout with police.
Lebis was convicted in 1992 of shooting his roommate in the back of the head. He got a 20-year sentence for aggravated assault and then another four-year sentence for prison escape. He got paroled in 2008. He was arrested in 2011 on a weapons charge and reached a plea deal for a six-month sentence. His parole officer sent him back to prison, and the parole board released him in May 2012.
