GAINESVILLE - Plans have been announced through the Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce for the Master Craftsmen Awards.

Master Craftsmen... Builders of America is part of the Featherbone Communiversity Master Series Program in partnership with Lanier Technical College.

The Master Craftsmen Awards seek to showcase the construction industry and promote to young people and the community the importance of construction jobs in the economy while recognizing those individuals with outstanding skills in their trade.

"The purpose of the Masters Series is to recognize the true masters in Teaching, Nursing, Entrepreneurship and Craftsmanship," said Gus Whalen, founder of Featherbone Communiversity and the Master Series Program. "Each program seeks to honor these masters, learn from them - their story - how they do what they do and why they do it, and encourage young people to become masters in their careers."

The Master Craftsmen program was designed to work in conjunction with Governor Deal's "Go Build Georgia" campaign and the Construction Education Foundation of Georgia's (CEFGA) "Careers in Construction" program to spotlight those who have made a lasting impact on Northeast Georgia with their work.

Ten tradesmen will be honored and recognized at the 1st Annual Master Craftsmen
