Commerce drops first contest of the season

MONROE -- Commerce's perfect start to 2012 came to an end on Friday, as the Tigers fell 26-15 at George Walton Academy in Monroe.

The ninth-ranked Bulldogs (4-1, 1-0 Region 8-A) rolled up 299 yards to Commerce's 199, taking the lead for good in the third quarter with 13 unanswered points in the period.

Terrick Ramsey scored a touchdown for the seventh-ranked Tigers (4-1, 0-1), while Chase Ledbetter led the Commerce defense with 15 tackles during the game.

Hunter Rice scored a touchdown for George Walton, which had scoring runs of 40 and three yards.

Commerce will look to bounce back next week against Athens Christian in Commerce.
