BUFORD - The son of Buford High School's girls basketball coach has been seriously injured in a motorcycle accident.

Authorities said Devin Durden was riding the motorcycle Wednesday on Georgia Highway 20 when an SUV pulled out in front of him near Gravel Springs Road.

"Within two or three hours, there was probably 50 people at the hospital in the waiting room, there was food brought in," said Durden family friend Buddy Curry, speaking with Fox 5 News.

Durden was a football standout at Buford High; he currently is a tight end for the Air Force Academy football team.

Reports indicate the 21-year-old Durden received a severe spinal cord injury.

"I know there was some questions about paralysis, and I just pray that the surgeons can do whatever technology allows them to do to prevent that," said Buford High Football Coach David Watkins.

Durden had been home from the Air Force Academy less than 24 hours when the accident occurred.
