There wasn't much change for area programs in the latest prep football rankings, released Tuesday.

Gainesville, Buford, Stephens County, and North Gwinnett each maintained their previous spots in the Associated Press top 10, while Commerce moved up one spot in Class A.

Gainesville (3-1, 2-0 Region 8-AAAAA) is eighth again in Class AAAAA. The Red Elephants stomped Apalachee 62-20 last week and will play host to a key region showdown this Friday against Heritage (Conyers), which is just on the cusp of the top 10.

Buford (2-1, 0-0 Region 7-AAA) had a bye last week but held at No. 4 in Class AAA. The Wolves will travel to face Banks County (1-3, 0-1) in a 7-AAA battle in Homer.

Stephens County (4-0, 1-0 Region 8-AAAA) also stayed in fifth place in Class AAAA. The Indians battered Walnut Grove last week, 61-20 and will play host to Chestatee (2-1, 1-0) on Friday.

Commerce (4-0, 0-0 Region 8-A) did climb one spot to No. 7 in Class A after fending off Rabun County 18-17 last Friday. The Tigers will travel to George Walton Academy (3-1, 0-0) to begin region play this week.

And North Gwinnett is still ninth in Class AAAAA after defeating Meadowcreek 45-20 last week. The Bulldogs will take a bye this week.
