Plans announced for 2012 Harvest of Hope

GAINESVILLE - Games, music, dragon boats, informational exhibits, food, fun and more are promised as part of the annual Harvest of Hope, scheduled this year from 11:00-2:00 on Oct. 13 at the Lake Lanier Olympic Venue.

It is sponsored by The Longstreet Cancer Center and is free, but registration is required by calling 770-533-4705 or visiting www.gloryhopelife.org.

Harvest of Hope is used to to educate and support people in the Gainesville area who have been touched by cancer. Working with a collaborative planning group of oncology professionals and community members, Harvest of Hope strives to improve the awareness of cancer prevention, detection and treatment, while increasing survivorship and quality of life for each patient in Northeast Georgia.

Through increased public education, advocacy and guidance, it offers personal navigation through the tough decision-making and financial pressures involved in accessing services related to cancer treatment. With an annual, free to the public event, Harvest of Hope brings together many people impacted by cancer, from patients and families, to caregivers and nationally recognized experts, offering them a chance to celebrate recovery while encouraging those still in the fight.

It includes educational seminars, entertainment, exhibits and guest speakers.
