CLEVELAND - A young male driver faces numerous charges after a pursuit by the Georgia State Patrol on Highway 129 south of Cleveland Monday.

State Patrol Cpl. Roberts with the Gainesville post said a trooper attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a vehicle with a broken windshield and a couple of other issues but the driver fled.

Roberts said a chase ensued but was quickly ended when the trooper performed a pit maneuver and both vehicles ended up on the east side of the highway.

"The subject then fled on foot, he was taken into custody after a foot chase, and he's going to have several charges," he said.

"It was a pretty dangerous pursuit going through a red light or two and passing on a double yellow line," Roberts said.

Roberts said the driver was transported to White County Detention Center.

He said no one was injured in the pursuit, which ended in the area of Westmoreland Road.
