WINDER - Officials with the Winder Police Department's Crime Suppression Unit made two arrests in a string of burglaries that had taken place on and around North Broad Street in the city.

While serving unrelated arrest warrants at a residence in the 100 block of Charles Court, officers observed items they believed to be used at several of the burglaries in plain view. Officer Nick Bilik immediately secured the residence and requested a search warrant for evidence of the past burglaries. When he returned with the warrant, officers searched the residence and located items taken from several of the burglaries.

Officer Bilik, who has been involved with the investigation from the beginning, stated, "We've been working with the businesses to identify and arrest the suspects involved in these burglaries. I'm glad we were able to go to each business personally to let them know we've made an arrest."

Authorities said 24 year-old Casey Tuggle was charged with 12 counts of burglary, criminal attempt to commit burglary, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug related objects.

In addition, 18 year-old Dylan Carithers was charged with 3 counts of party to the crime of burglary, theft by receiving stolen property, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug related objects.
