CUMMING -- Lakeview Academy football's five-game win streak, which stretched back into 2011, came to a halt on Friday night, as Pinecrest Academy pulled away late in the fourth quarter for a 30-20 win in Cumming.

The Lions (2-1) traded leads with the Paladins (2-1) for much of the contest but couldn't keep Pinecrest quarterback Jimmy Strom quiet down the stretch, as the signal caller passed for one score and ran for another.

Lakeview was left ruing missed opportunities, as the Lions marched up and down the field but were hurt by turnovers -- five giveaways negating 433 yards of offense, compared with just 242 yards for the Paladins.

Lakeview quarterback Ted Reynolds put up 285 combined yards, including 125 yards rushing and 160 passing on 10-of-20 attempts. Trevor Price also rushed for 93 yards and caught three passes for 50 yards and a score, while Caleb Faulkner rushed for 42 yards and a touchdown.

The Lions rushed for 273 yards on the night and tallied 21 first downs -- to just eight firsts for the Paladins.

Lakeview led 14-7 at the half on a 25-yard scoring strike from Reynolds to Price. The Lions then gained a 20-17 advantage with 4:41 to play on a 94-yard run from Reynolds.

But Lakeview couldn't maintain the lead after a 43-yard scoring strike and a three-yard run from Strom.

The Lions will play host to Athens Academy next Friday.
