Posted 1:59PM on Wednesday 19th September 2012 ( 11 years ago )
UNDATED - Saturday is the first official day of fall, but North Georgians are already getting a taste of fall-like temperatures.

Residents awoke to temperatures in the upper 40s and low 50s Wednesday morning, and they're expected to drop back into that range again Wednesday night.

Fifty-five degrees was the temperature recorded in Gainesville Wednesday morning, which is five degrees lower than the average for this date.

Meanwhile, Clayton saw a low temperature of 44 degrees--or eleven degrees below average.

Officials say the temperatures are expected to creep back up just slightly through the weekend, but they say it will feel like fall once again by the beginning of next week.

The official start to fall occurs at 10:49 a.m. Saturday.
