CORNELIA - Details are still sketchy, but a child was run over by a car in a shopping center parking lot in Cornelia around 2 p.m. Saturday.

The child, said to be about 5 years old, was struck after running into the path of a Ford Taurus in the parking lot at Quality Foods Shopping Center.

Officers said the boy, airlifted from the Habersham County Airport to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite, appeared to have non-life-threatening injuries.

The Georgia State Patrol is assisting Cornelia Police Department with its investigation of the incident.
