Rabun awakes in second quarter, blasts Towns, 45-7

TIGER -- Rabun County exploded for 28 second quarter points en route to a 45-7 defeat of Towns County on Friday in Tiger.

The Wildcats (2-0) broke out of a 7-7 tie with the Indians (0-4) thanks to a Kendall Woodard rushing score, two passing touchdowns from quarterback Wes Holcombe and a punt return for a score from Jed Gipson.

Meanwhile, the Rabun defense held Towns in check after allowing a rushing touchdown from Jackson Noblet to open the game.

The Indians managed just 156 yards of offense for the game, while the Wildcats put up 360 yards, including 166 on the ground.

Holcombe led the way through the air and on the ground, completing 11-of-20 passes for three scores, an interception and 186 yards. He also rushed 13 times for 93 yards. Woodard also rushed for 52 yards and two scores, while Gipson had two carries for 45 yards.

Charlie Woerner caught a 90-yard scoring pass for the Wildcats, while Alden Wright hauled in two receptions for 31 yards and a touchdown. Bailey O'Shields also caught three passes for 32 yards.

Rabun County will travel to face Commerce next Friday.

Towns County will play host to Rabun Gap next Friday.
