GAINESVILLE - Fire investigators have not yet determined why a vacant house on Clarks Bridge Road in Hall County caught fire overnight.

"The house was pretty severely damaged as a result of the fire, and it is probably going to take the use of some heavy equipment to start to dig it out," Hall County Fire Lt. Beverley Walker said.

Firefighters were called to the scene at 3680 Clarks Bridge Road around 1:25 a.m., according to Lt. Walker. She said the 2000 square-foot home, which was vacant, was a total loss.

"That's really all of the information that we have at this time. No one has stepped forward that I know of to claim the house yet."

Walker said there were no injuries to firefighters who worked the blaze.

Clarks Bridge Road was closed for about four hours as a result of the fire.

"We had to lay a water supply line across the roadway," Lt. Walker said.
