CUMMING -- Flowery Branch couldn't dig out of an early hole on Friday, as West Forsyth held off the Falcons for a 21-14 win in Cumming.

Flowery Branch (0-2) trailed 14-0 after the first quarter, pulling within a touchdown with three minutes to play but couldn't complete the comeback.

Justin Curry paced the Falcons attack with 19 carries for 116 yards rushing and a touchdown in the loss, while Jackson McDonald completed 9 of 15 passes for 86 yards. Jamaad Stephens caught two passes for 53 yards, while Cameron Davis had four catches for 17 yards.

West Forsyth (2-0) rolled up a balanced 374 yards -- 185 on the ground and 189 through the air.

Flowery Branch will look to bounce back from the loss when Region 8-AAAAA play begins next week when the Falcons travel to face Cedar Shoals in Athens.
