Longstreet Society's annual seminar set for Oct. 6-7

GAINESVILLE - The Longstreet Society's annual seminar is scheduled for Williamsburg, Va., October 6-7.

Titled "The Undismayed Warrior: Longstreet & The Seven Days Campaign," it will feature A. Wilson Greene, Executive Director of Pamplin Historical Park, and Dr. William Garrett Piston, author of "Lee's Tarnished Lieutenant: James Longstreet and His Place in Southern History." Greene and Piston will conduct an all day tour of Seven Days battlefields.

The keynote speaker for the Society's Saturday night supper is John V. Quarstein, author of "The Civil War on the Virginia Peninsula."

Registration fees are: Life Members $135; Members $155; New Members $170 (Includes 1 year membership); and includes Saturday and Sunday breakfast, all day Saturday bus tour including lunch on the road, the annual Society dinner, participation in the silent auction and presentations both Saturday night and Sunday morning. The Longstreet Society was formed in 1994 to honor the life of Lt. Gen. James Longstreet, CSA. It is headquartered in Gainesville in the general's old Piedmont Hotel. The Society maintains the hotel, offers tours and education programming, maintains Longstreet's grave in Gainesville and hosts
a newsletter and website focused on Longstreet's life and military history.
