GAINESVILLE - Gainesville State College (GSC) opens the 2012-13 Art Gallery Series with "Intimate Association."

"Intimate Association" is an exhibit of works by GSC art department faculty member Hyoungseok Kim. The display will be housed in the Roy C. Moore Art Gallery, now to September 19.

Kim creates sculptural works focusing on the "story of communication and connection between all things." Kim repeats imagery in his artwork to refer to "communications and connections" which "can be dealt with, not only in terms of spiritual or psychological dimensions, but rather in the dimension of physical reality." Symbols he uses to represent interconnectedness include the "human body, horns, seeds, and the concept of waves and particles."

The Closing Reception will be held on Wednesday, September 19, at noon. The public is invited to attend this free event and meet the artist.

Kim joined the GSC art faculty after earning his Master of Fine Arts in Sculpture from Utah State University in 2008. He previously taught at the University of Seoul in Seoul, Korea, among other institutions. He also holds a Master of Fine Arts in Painting from Hongik University in Seoul, Korea.

The Roy C. Moore Art Gallery is located in the Continuing Education/Performing Arts Center on Gainesville State College's Gainesville Campus. The gallery is open Monday through Wednesday, from 10am to 4pm, and on Thursday from 10am to 7pm.
