GAINESVILLE -- Coach Matthew Gruhn wasn't about to get carried away, but he admitted he was pretty excited to see the way his Lakeview football team responded in Friday night's season opener.

"We've got a lot of things to work on, but it was great to see us get a win like that -- hopefully that will propel us to some bigger things this season," said Gruhn after his team knocked off Fellowship Christian 32-12 in Gainesville.

Caleb Faulkner led the Lions (1-0) with two touchdowns, while Trevor Price, Ted Reynolds and John Cox also scored in the win.

Price and Nick Henderson led the Lakeview defense in tackles.

"Our defense played really well tonight, and our offense clicked as the game wore on," Gruhn said. "I wondered how our team would respond with expectations higher coming into the season, and it was great to have the result we did tonight."

The Lions will travel to face Hebron Christian next week in Dacula.
