The Wimpy Family Benefit Singing will be held Friday at 7 p.m. at the Dahlonega Park and Recreation gymnasium... with all proceeds going toward the family's medical costs.
"Silver City, a local band called Jaiden Call, and some other individuals will also be singing. There will also be a lot of items donated by local businesses for auction. There will be food there," said Doug Berliner, the step-father of Aften Wimpy, who, along with her husband and three children, was injured in the crash.
Berliner said Aften and her husband Jon continue to care for their 6-year-old daughter Lily, 1-year-old son Aiden and infant son Nikolas, who remains in ICU at Egleston Hospital in Atlanta.
"Jon may have to actually quit his job at Wal-Mart and be the main caregiver, and basically his job will be caring for that baby for a year," he said.
