GAINESVILLE - New Holland Core Knowledge (CK) Academy recently received a Certificate of Achievement from the Fuel Up to Play 60 program as a result of efforts by students and program advisors Jennifer Moore and Tammy Miller to improve student wellness.

Fuel Up to Play 60 is a private/public partnership that shares the ambitious and attainable goals outlined in First Lady Michelle Obama's childhood obesity platform," Let's Move!". The nutrition and physical activity program was launched by the National Dairy Council and the National Football League, in collaboration with the USDA, and now involves more than 70,000 schools.

The program's design allows youth and schools to determine which tools and resources best empower each school to meet student wellness goals and serves as a strategy for helping schools earn the USDA HealthierUS School Challenge award.

Qualified schools can receive up to $4,000 to help support their wellness programs during the 2012-2013 school year from Funds for Fuel Up to Play 60. Other program incentives include student engagement opportunities through a Student Ambassador program, school and program advisor rewards and special recognition such as the popular Touchdown School Award which is awarded to schools having successfully completed all of the program's requirements.
