GAINESVILLE - As of midnight, Northeast Georgia Health System is out-of-network with United Healthcare.

The NGHS website says patients who have a United commercial insurance product will need to review their specific plan benefits when accessing certain NGHS facilities and physicians.

Negotiations between the two entities began in January and continued through Tuesday afternoon, but no agreement was reached.

Tracey Lempner, a spokeswoman for United Healthcare's Southeast Region office, issued a written statement Wednesday morning.

"We are disappointed that we were not able to reach a new contract with Northeast Georgia Health System. In an effort to address the concerns of our members, and their health care needs, we stand willing to resume negotiations at any time and hope that we can reach an agreement with Northeast Georgia Health System in the near future."

No word on how many people are affected by the parting of the two companies.
