Flowery Branch police chief to retire

FLOWERY BRANCH - Flowery Branch Police Chief Gerald Lanich is retiring.

Lanich has served as chief of police for eight years and has worked in law enforcement for more than 40 years.

In addition to serving the city of Flowery Branch as chief, Lanich was an officer with the Toccoa Police Department for 10 years and a deputy with the Hall County Sheriff's Office for 27 years. While working for the HCSO, Lanich worked as part of the SWAT team, the dive team and the MANS unit, among other duties.

There's no word yet on who will be Lanich's replacement.
