GAINESVILLE - Traffic was stalled during Thursday morning's rush hour after a tanker truck nearly overturned on Athens Highway in Gainesville.

"It basically was leaning, and the driver was scared that if he removed his foot from the brakes then it could possibly turn over," said Hall County Fire Chief David Kimbrell.

Kimbrell said traffic was affected between 8 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. because of the incident near Wilson Drive.

"Traffic was snarled for quite awhile, and I know a lot of people were complaining about the traffic, but we had to move the traffic and stop it just so we could stretch the cables across the roadway and get the truck back up," he said.

Kimbrell said no one was injured in the incident.
