Monday night during the Cleveland City Council meeting, White County Emergency Management Agency Director David Murphy presented Chief Pruitt with a license certificate.
Murphy said about a year ago the city and county fire services were separated. At that time, he asked Pruitt to develop a rescue team in the city to work in conjunction with the team the county already had.
Murphy said in Georgia, rescue units that are non-paid have to be licensed under the Georgia Emergency Management Agency, and fall under the direction of the county EMA director.
Murphy said in addition to the city's certification, the county recently received certification for a second rescue team at fire station 4 in the Mossy Creek area.
