TOCCOA - A Toccoa manufacturer has been cited by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration for more than 16 safety and health violations.

According to officials with the U.S. Department of Labor, Curahee Group, doing business as Pak Pro LLC in Toccoa, was fined more than $52,000 in fines as a result.

They said the violations include failing to ensure that industrial truck operators complete required training and failing to provide safety equipment for some potentially hazardous equipment. Also among their findings was failure to ensure the use of personal protective equipment by workers exposed to potential eye hazards and failing to ensure access to portable fire extinguishers.

Officials said the company, which manufactures commercial packaging, has 15 business days from receipt of the citations and proposed penalties to comply, request a conference with OSHA's area director or contest the findings before the independent Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission.
