Nearly 13,000 Hall County voters cast their ballot in Tuesday's election.
Hall County Elections Director Charlotte Sosebee said that as of 3 p.m., 12,918 voters cast ballots at the precincts.
"We have already exceeded the official total for the 2008 Primary where only 8,707 voters cast ballot at the polls," said Sosebee in an email.
Steady turnout was reported in Hall County Tuesday as voters continued to head to the polls in the primary.
Lori Wurtz with Jackson County elections said turnout there had been as expected, with seven candidates on the GOP ballot for sheriff. She said they had roughly 4000 people vote early, about 13 percent of registered voters.
Habersham County voting officials reported a steady and smooth day thus far. There were no turnout estimates in Lumpkin County, but officials described the day as running smoothly.
But officials in a couple counties, Hall and Jackson, reminded people to remember before they head to the polls, that Tuesday's vote is a primary. Voters choose either a Democrat or Republican ballot.
"Voters are required to select a party preference, and there is an option of a non-partisan ballot, which only includes the judges and the T-SPLOST question," Sosebee said.
