According to the Atlanta Journal Constitution, Cumming officials rejected details of a tentative agreement with the county that was made in May.
Forsyth County buys the bulk of its water from the city, which holds the permit to tap into Lake Lanier.
Cumming officials claimed the agreement doesn't specify a price for raw water that goes beyond the county's regular allocation, according to the paper.
County officials have agreed to ask the city to supply water under the old contract until year's end, or a new contract is reached.
