BUFORD - Fire destroyed a Buford home early Tuesday morning. The flames were so intense, they prevented initial fire crews from making immediate entry.

According to the Gwinnett County Fire Department, the blaze broke out around 4:00 a.m. in the 5700 block of Little Mill Road. Fire crews found the single story house engulfed in flames when they arrived.

Residents told firefighters they heard a loud popping noise, discovered the fire and escaped without injury.

Responders said the blaze was so hot, that it melted some siding on two adjacent homes. Fire Captain Tommy Rutledge said it was extensive siding damage, due to the heat. Firefighters used two hose lines to battle the fire and protect the neighboring houses.

Investigators are looking for the cause of the fire.
