Saturday voting coming up this weekend statewide

UNDATED - If you can't get to the polls for early primary voting because of work, Saturday voting is coming up statewide this weekend.

Forsyth County Supervisor of Voter Registrations and Elections Barbara Luth said they're expecting a good turnout.

"We've really had good a good turnout the last couple of weeks, last week and going into this week. We've had over 200 a day, so I know that those that can't come during the week will come on Saturday. They really liked it last time," Luth said.

Forsyth County had about 600 voters on the last Saturday voting offering, and Luth expects more than that this time.

Meantime, turnout in early voting in Dawson County has averaged about 100 or more per day. That's according to Glenda Ferguson, Chairperson of the Dawson County Board of Elections and Voter Registration.

"It's actually above average, at this point, compared to the comparable primary in 2008," Ferguson.

They're expecting at least 75 voters Saturday, a number they hit in March.

Elections staff in both counties continued to prepare for the big primary day July 31.

"We're doing the finishing on all of the packing for the supplies that go out to the polls. You know it's like setting up an office for one day," Luth said.

Ferguson said her office will work up until the primary, with a Saturday shift scheduled to get Express Polls ready just before the Tuesday vote.
