Synthetic pot seized from Forsyth Co. businesses

CUMMING - Three Forsyth County businesses were busted for selling synthetic marijuana this week.

Forsyth County Sheriff's Office Spokesperson Karleen Chalker said deputies raided Puff and Stuff Smoke Shop, King John Smoke Shop and Heads Off Smoke Shop, confiscating more than 1,700 bags of synthetic marijuana.

"We went to all three of these places back in June and confiscated synthetic marijuana from them at that time also," she said.

Chalker said that means all three businesses had restocked their shelves.

She said one of the business owners was arrested during the sweep on an outstanding warrant.

Chalker said samples from the confiscated bags will be sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab for testing.

In June, at the request of Gov. Nathan Deal, the Georgia State Board of Pharmacy adopted an emergency rule classifying newly discovered compounds of synthetic marijuana and giving certified officers the ability to enter any retail, wholesale, distributor or manufacturing facility to identify and seize drugs, compounds and articles identified in the emergency rule. The rule allows law enforcement to seize the new forms of the synthetic marijuana, but does not provide for an arrest.
