Former S. Forsyth, Ga. State soccer player killed in crash

ATLANTA -- Police say a former Georgia State University soccer player was killed after his car crashed through an ice cream parlor in a downtown Atlanta entertainment district.<br /> <br /> WAGA-TV reports that Atlanta police say 21-year-old Timothy Nixon lost control of his vehicle on a curve, the car flipped on its side and slid through the Häagen-Dazs store in the Underground Atlanta area around 2 a.m. Wednesday.<br /> <br /> Nixon was pronounced dead at Grady Memorial Hospital.<br /> <br /> Nixon graduated from South Forsyth High School in Georgia and played at East Tennessee State University before he transferred to Georgia State, where he appeared in 11 matches in the 2011-12 season.<br /> <br /> Georgia State soccer coach Brett Surrency said in a statement that Nixon was popular with his teammates and a person that "everyone was drawn to."
