ALPHARETTA - First it was AT&T, and now Verizon Wireless, owner of the country's largest 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) Network, has launched its 4G LTE network to 46 new markets, including the Gainesville area.

This, company officials say, will enable more Verizon customers in more of the country to take advantage of 4G LTE speeds in their own towns. With the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network, they say customers can enjoy the best experience in wireless data usage when they stream video, share music and photos, download files and surf the Web, with speeds up to 10 times faster than before.

The company's 4G LTE network is available to customers in Buford, Gainesville, Oakwood, Clermont, Murrayville and Flowery Branch.

In addition, Verizon is expanding the network in 22 markets already served by the company's 4G LTE network. With the new and expanded markets, the company's 4G LTE network will be available in 304 markets, to more than two-thirds of the U.S. population.

"The introduction of our 4G LTE network to the Gainesville area demonstrates our commitment to continuously expand the network and provide our customers with the highest quality communications standards," said Jonathan LeCompte, president
