DOT spokesperson Teri Pope said they'll scale back construction projects to ease the 4th of July holiday traffic congestion, unless there's an emergency.
"If there's a crash or damage to the roadway or a sink hole or something like that then we would have to get into the road and repair that," she said.
Pope said the lane-closing construction projects will stop at 5 a.m. on Saturday and won't begin again until 5 a.m. Monday, June 9th.
She said this year's suspension of construction projects is a little bit longer than in year's past since the fourth falls on a Wednesday and travel is expected both the weekend leading up to the holiday and the weekend following it.
